Privacy Policy

This policy describes information collected during a visit, the reasons it may be used, and the limited circumstances in which it may be shared. Continued use of Chaffee County Criminal History signals acceptance of these practices.

Data You Give Us Directly

Search Queries

A name or place entered in a search tool is sent to the outside company that operates that tool. The provider processes the query and supplies its response. We do not keep a separate log of those search terms.

Messages and Contact Submissions

An email or other direct message may be retained to prepare and document a response. It remains within the organization unless disclosure is required by law.

Data We Gather Automatically

Normal server operation records technical information when a page loads:

  • Page-view timestamps
  • A referring site, when supplied
  • Pages viewed and time spent
  • Operating system and device category
  • Browser type and version
  • The device's IP address

Cookies and Analytics

Cookies are small device files that help measure page use and navigation patterns. Analytics services combine that traffic information into reports. Browser controls can block cookies, though doing so may change how some features behave.

What We Do With This Data

  • Delivering relevant advertising
  • Diagnosing technical faults
  • Measuring which pages are useful
  • Routing a query to the selected search provider
  • Maintaining site speed and availability

No Criminal-Record Data on File

Chaffee County Criminal History does not host, compile, or sell a database of personal criminal records. It identifies official sources such as Chaffee Sheriff, Chaffee Combined Court, the Colorado Bureau of Investigation, and the Colorado Sex Offender Registry. Visitor data is not assembled into a consumer report or a record about another person, and the site is not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act.

Third-Party Search Partners

Outside companies operate the search boxes. Their privacy terms govern submitted queries, retention, and sharing. Review the applicable provider policy before using its tool because those practices are outside our control.

Links to Other Websites

Links may lead to sheriff, court, Colorado agency, legal-aid, or commercial pages. Once a visitor leaves, the destination's privacy policy controls. Review it before providing personal details.

Advertising companies may use their own systems to measure activity across websites and select ads.

Who Might See Your Data

Personal data is not sold. Limited information may be disclosed to:

  • A government or law-enforcement body acting under a valid legal order
  • Advertising networks serving page ads
  • Analytics providers measuring traffic and performance
  • Search partners processing a submitted query

How We Protect Your Data

Reasonable security practices protect collected information, but no internet service can guarantee absolute security or rule out every breach.

Users Under 18

The service is intended for adults and does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. Verified minor data will be removed when identified.

Your Data Rights

Colorado residents may have rights under the Colorado Privacy Act, C.R.S. §§ 6-1-1301 through 6-1-1313, subject to its scope, exceptions, and verification requirements. A visitor may:

  • Opt out of processing covered by an applicable right
  • Request deletion of eligible data
  • Seek correction of inaccurate information
  • Request access to personal data held about that visitor
